About Me
Photography has always been a part of my life; whether it was spending time with my dad in the darkroom at home as a child or capturing wildlife at the Kalahari Game Reserve. People always ask me where I studied photography and although I did attend a formal institution, I benefitted more from joining the Port Elizabeth Camera Club.
In 1986 I took the leap and opened my own studio. It just took off! I was fully booked in the studio and doing weddings every weekend. I won a number of competitions including the Living and Loving Baby of the Year Competition which I won 6 times. Jump forward three years where, heavily pregnant, I decided to forego the use of the stand-by photographer I had lined up in order to do a wedding personally. Jenna was born the next day – weighing in at 9 pounds, 14 ounces. Sean arrived in 1992 to complete our family. I was fortunate to have my children with me in their early years as they grew up around the studio.
With the arrival of digital photography some 12 years later, I found that I was busier than ever. The difference now was that I was spending more time editing than I was in the studio. Consequently I decided to scale down a bit, move out of Walmer and share a studio with a fellow photographer, doing weddings over weekends.
Like me, my children have decided to follow their passions and I have no doubt that they will both be very successful in their fields. Sean is studying Musical Theatre in Pretoria and will soon be appearing on the big screen. Jenna is studying Education in Stellenbosch in hopes of transforming our education policies.

Thank you so much Debbie for your fantastic pictures. We really enjoyed our time with you and your daughter Jenna and we will remember that wonderful day forever!
